Community Volunteers

On Friday, March 11, we supported our blood donation campaign organized at our company as part of Setaş Kimya’s social responsibility activities, with the participation of 60 volunteers.

We congratulate our Setaş Kimya volunteers for supporting the establishment of a voluntary bridge between blood donors and those in need, in cooperation with the Turkish Textile Finishing Industrialists Association and the Turkish Red Crescent.

A Child Smiles, the World Feels Hope

With a volunteer group we formed within Setaş Kimya, we decided to become volunteer “big brothers and sisters” to help create joyful memories for children who lack opportunities or cannot go out freely due to disabilities, and to remind them that they are just like any other individuals.

This was our first project, and we were very excited as a group. The moment we met the children we would spend the day with as part of the “Will You Go Out With Me?” Project, we realized what a wonderful decision we had made, and a smile spread across all our faces at once.

We went to a wheelchair-accessible restaurant using an elevator-equipped transport vehicle for people with disabilities, where we could enjoy a nice introductory breakfast. Since we would be out all day, we had a hearty breakfast while getting to know each other. When we visited the museum, we saw that not only wheelchair users but also their companions could move around comfortably, making life easier for everyone. As the children explored everything in the museum—many for the first time—with great curiosity and joy, we had the chance to talk a lot. We discussed their dreams, their plans for the future, and what they hoped to achieve. They were all hardworking, intelligent, and determined children full of hope, not defined by any obstacles. We shared in their hopes and ended our day with a pleasant dinner.

At the place we visited, there was a small step that had not been considered before, but after our visit, they immediately decided to install a ramp suitable for wheelchairs. We realized that with accessible spaces, wheelchairs become part of everyday life, and with environments designed for individuals with disabilities, the concept of “disability” loses its meaning.

At the end of the day, we were all very happy and had a lot of fun, and we found ourselves already making plans for our second trip.

We strongly encourage all volunteers who want to spend enjoyable time through such experiences to join, support, and promote the “Will You Go Out With Me?” Project.
